XPRL.org, represented by Peter Christopherson, Business Development Director at Echo Research Ltd. and David Phillips, CEO of Internet Reputation Services, are explaining what XPRL, the next big thing in PR, is all about at the PR Showcase Exhibition. Two seminars are being given at the exhibition at the ExCel Centre in London on 12th and 13th March.

Backed by the Institute of Public Relations and the Public Relations Consultant’s Association and already well received in the USA by the Public Relations Society of America, XPRL is set to revolutionise the PR industry.

eXtensible Public Relations Language is being developed by a global consortium based at Leeds Metropolitan University Business School under the chairmanship of Professor Anne Gregory. XPRL will be one of the main open standards of communication using the Internet.

Christopherson and Phillips will demonstrate the work of the consortium and some of the benefits of this new global initiative for the public relations industry at the PR Showcase. For example, using XPRL will allow public relations professionals to send content e.g. text and pictures, to any computer system anywhere in the world irrespective of the hardware or software platform that they use.

It will also link with other industries using XML, including the media, PR trade suppliers and users, and the finance sector. Information will therefore be delivered faster, without the need for re-formatting and without using intermediaries. This will result in enormous savings, currently estimated at about 30%
