XPRL Standards

The XPRL Standard is made up of a series of Process Standards, each of which addresses a particular aspect of public relations. There are currently three Process Standards published. You can see how they fit into the full scope of PR here.

The three Process Standards address key information exchange stages in media relations.

  • Document Release
  • Clippings Briefing
  • Coverage Reporting

The Standard is supported by documentation. Some of this is advisory and free only to supporters of XPRL.org.

Schema  The machine readable code structure
Semantic Guide  Guide to application developers on the use of the Schema
Lexicon  List of terms and definitions for use in the Standard
Glossary  Extensive dictionary of PR-specific vocabulary
Guide to PR  Layman's description of how XPRL works

Licensing XPRL Standards for use

XPRL Standards are open source standards, free for general use according to normal licence conditions.

Applications can be accredited as XPRL-enabled, and can be promoted to the XPRL community by subscribers to XPRL.org

Additional draft Standards

Working parties of XPRL.org supporters are preparing additional Process Standards addressing other areas of the scope of PR.
