Committees

XPRL is formed with a team of officers, chaired by Professor Anne Gregory at Leeds Business School, Leeds Metropolitan University. There is an Executive Committee which are responsible for the main aspects of XPRL’s development, and a Steering Group formed of interested parties who believe that they can contribute and progress the definition and promotion of XPRL and work with other business organisations in related fields.

XPRL.org is also formed with five individual working committees, dedicated to furthering the work of XPRL in these areas:

  • Promotions

As adoption of XPRL reaches critical mass, public relations will play an increasingly important role to the success of the overall effort. As a result, the Promotions Committee is responsible for external outreach of XPRL by demonstrating the benefits to various participants in the public relations and associated business sectors. The remit of the Promotions Committee will include:

* developing media and public relations strategies      * meeting with the press     * arranging interviews and software demonstrations      * identifying conferences      * creating and placing bylined articles      * generating and placing case studies in industry and sector press               * providing PR tools for members      * maintaining the press room on the XPRL website          * coordinating spokespeople for interviews      * tracking news stories about XPRL

  • Technical

The Technical Committee's main aim is to formulate and oversee all aspects of the XPRL XML schema development. As part of this process it will support and advise all developers who wish to build solutions which use the schema. In addition it will assist the XPRL Executive Committee in the creation of a forum for all interested parties to discuss and contribute towards the schema, using such feedback to allow for continued schema refinement.
